The Kwara State Police Command is currently looking into the death of 21-year-old Awesu Mojisola, a student at the Kwara State College of Health Technology. Her body was found on August 11, 2024, at a waste disposal site near Aleniboro in Ilorin by a local individual returning from mosque prayers. Police spokesperson DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed that detectives were dispatched to the scene, where they discovered bloodstains near her left ear. In another relevant incident, on August 13, 2024, around 1630 hours, Miss Blessing O., a resident of Gbomi’s area in Offa, Kwara State, filed a missing person report.
She indicated that her roommate, Miss Awesu Mojisola—also a 21-year-old student at the Kwara State College of Health Technology—had been unaccounted for since August 9, 2024. The report stated that Miss Mojisola received a phone call on August 9 from one Miss Timileyin regarding an event organized by students from Summit University and Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin. During this conversation, she was introduced to Mr. Adebayo Happiness—a student from Summit University—who allegedly invited her to attend the night party under the pretext of paying her Fifteen Thousand Naira (#15,000.00) to act as his girlfriend.
Upon arriving in Ilorin, Mojisola expressed discomfort about staying at the hotel arranged by Adebayo Happiness and mentioned there was no party happening there as claimed. Shortly after this message was relayed to her roommate, her phone went off and subsequent attempts by Blessing to contact her were unsuccessful. Given these circumstances, suspects have been apprehended by the Kwara State Police Command in relation to this case. Investigations are ongoing and have been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for more thorough inquiries,” said Ejire-Adeyemi.
