The Nigeria Police Force has appealed to organized labor to cancel the planned strike and return to negotiations with the Federal Government. The police urged labor to prioritize dialogue and legal avenues to resolve the minimum wage dispute, warning that the strike could lead to hardship, tension, and political instability.
The police assured the public of adequate deployments to maintain order and stability, encouraging citizens to go about their daily activities without fear. Meanwhile, a meeting between labor leaders and National Assembly leaders failed to yield a resolution, with labor insisting on proceeding with the strike.
Labor leaders explained that they lack the authority to unilaterally call off the strike, which will commence as planned pending further discussions with their respective organs.
