The Lagos State Government has unveiled the Lagos State Upskill Programme, a initiative aimed at empowering youths with technological skills to build a brighter future. The programme, launched in partnership with GFA Technologies and WEMA Bank, provides hands-on training in the latest technology, mentorship from industry experts, and the opportunity to work on real-world projects.
According to the Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, the programme is designed to nurture creativity, foster innovation, and build resilience among youths. He urged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity, be curious, proactive, and collaborative, as the skills acquired will be essential tools for building a brighter future for themselves and the community.
This initiative is part of efforts to tackle unemployment in the state. Similarly, the Somolu Local Government Area has collaborated with Somolu Tech Innovation and Tech Shepherd to organize a free ICT training for youths in Somolu. The four-day intensive tech boot camp, known as SKILLSHOP, catered to over 100 registered youths from across Lagos, providing them with technological skills to enhance their employability and entrepreneurial capabilities.
