LASTMA official causes a deadly accident
A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday in the Ago, Okota area of Lagos when a vehicle being pursued by a Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) official collided with a tricycle, resulting in the unfortunate deaths of a pregnant woman and her two children. The tricycle driver also lost his life in the accident.
Eyewitnesses claimed that one of the LASTMA officials at Okota Roundabout was engaged in a struggle with the driver of a Toyota Sienna vehicle, attempting to apprehend him for traffic violations. Regrettably, during this encounter, the vehicle lost control and crashed into a tricycle on Bayo Oyewale Street.
The pregnant woman was on her way to drop her children off at school when this tragic incident occurred, leading to shock and sorrow among those present.
The incident prompted a protest, with an angry crowd targeting the LASTMA official involved. Fortunately, a team of police officers intervened just in time, using tear gas to disperse the mob and clearing road blockades set up by the protesters. They safely removed the LASTMA official from the scene.
