Abia state government discovers over 50 decomposed dead bodiesThe Abia State Government has found over 50 decomposed dead bodies, more than 20 headless bodies, and numerous human skeletons around Lokpanta Cattle Market in Umunneochi LGA of the State.During his monthly media chat named “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians,” held in Government House, Umuahia, Dr. Alex Otti, the Abia State Governor, disclosed this. He assured that his government is committed to addressing insecurity without considering whose interests are affected.Governor Otti explained that prostitution, narcotics trade, and other criminal activities near the Lokpanta Cattle Market led to the market’s raid.
Some brothels were recently demolished, resulting in peace in Umunneochi.The Governor insisted that the Lokpanta market would become a daily market, operating from 6 am to 6 pm, and would now include sections for cattle dealers and other businesses. His administration is also in the process of fencing the market to enhance security.Lokpanta was previously known for kidnapping and armed robbery, prompting the decision to make the market a daily one. After discussions with market leadership, the government’s policy received approval.Governor Otti emphasized their determination to eliminate insecurity in Abia State, recognizing that no government can succeed in the face of violence and kidnapping. He announced plans to deploy security gadgets at strategic locations in the State.In response to questions from the media, Governor Otti mentioned a different approach to secure the release of the incarcerated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. However, the details of this approach were not disclosed to the public.
The Governor emphasized a results-oriented approach and vowed to inform the public when success is achieved.Governor Alex Otti, committed to infrastructure development, revealed that he had awarded the Ohafia-Abam–Okobo-Arochukwu road for construction. Additionally, construction work would soon begin on Nunya road in Isuikwuato LGA, and the Federal government would initiate work on the Ohafia-Ututu-Ihechiowa-Amuvi.The Governor expressed gratitude to Abia people and residents for their unwavering support and urged them to have faith in his administration.
