Acting Governor Aiyedatiwa Commits to Pursue Governor Akeredolu’s Vision for Ondo State
Ondo State, Nigeria – In a statewide broadcast on Thursday, the Acting Governor of Ondo State, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, urged the people of the state and stakeholders to unite in realizing the vision set forth by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu for the advancement of the state.
This follows Aiyedatiwa’s assumption of office for the second time as acting governor after Governor Akeredolu communicated his return to Germany for a follow-up on his medical treatment. The governor had previously sought medical treatment in Germany from June to September, during which Aiyedatiwa served as acting governor.
Upon Akeredolu’s return in September, tensions escalated between him and his deputy, leading to the dismissal of the deputy’s media aides and an impeachment motion against Aiyedatiwa in the state Assembly for alleged misconduct during his previous acting governorship.
The ensuing crisis evolved into a legal matter, prompting intervention from the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu, who convened meetings in Abuja with stakeholders to address the issues. In his broadcast, Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the recent political challenges and called for unity, emphasizing the need to leave the past behind and work collaboratively towards the state’s development.
He emphasized the importance of renewed unity to achieve the accelerated progress envisioned by Governor Akeredolu.Aiyedatiwa stated, “Yesterday is already behind us. This is the time to carry aloft, with love and affection for one another, the laudable vision and mission of the governor for the state.
I appeal to every member of the Government of Ondo State for your genuine support, cooperation, and dedication.”Highlighting the temporary setback caused by the political crisis, Aiyedatiwa stressed the urgency to focus on delivering the mandate entrusted to Governor Akeredolu and himself by the people.
He called for solidarity, stating, “We can no longer be separated in interest or divided in purpose. We must stand together until the end. We must come back stronger and more determined to advance the welfare and security of our people.
”The Acting Governor expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, and other stakeholders at both state and national levels for their intervention in resolving the crisis. As Ondo State looks to move beyond recent challenges, Aiyedatiwa’s call for unity and commitment to Governor Akeredolu’s vision signals a collective effort towards the state’s progress and welfare of its people.Credit Punch News
