The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has lifted the suspension on actress Adanma Luke, producer of the movie “The Other Side of Life”, in which late actor Junior Pope starred. The suspension was lifted barely four months after the tragic incident that claimed the lives of Junior Pope and four other crew members.
The incident occurred on April 10, 2024, when their boat capsized in the River Niger in Asaba, Delta state, while on their way to the movie location. The AGN had initially suspended Adamma Luke for breaching safety protocols and prohibited its members from working with her until further notice.
However, in a recent statement, the AGN National Secretary, Abubakar Yakubu, announced the lifting of the suspension. The statement also lifted the ban on filming in riverine areas, but cautioned members to adhere to all safety standards recommended in the AGN Bylaws.
The AGN National President, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, emphasized the importance of safety protocols in film production, particularly in high-risk locations like riverine areas. The lifting of the suspension and ban allows Adanma Luke to continue her work in the film industry, while also promoting safer filming practices among guild members.
