Ambassador Dr Queen Blessing Ebigieson
The Association of Movie Producers, Enugu State Chapter welcomes their National President Ambassador Dr. Queen Blessing Ebigieson, as they held meeting in Enugu State discussing on ways to Move the Organization Forward.
The Association of Movie Producers, Enugu Chapter, held a meeting today, Friday 9th May 2024, discussing the various means and ways to produce quality films, collaborate with co-producers and to try to collaborate with foreign bodies in other to move the organization forward.
In this meeting, the President, Ambassador Queen Blessing Ebigieson, highlighted various means by which the Producers could get their movies across to viewers, she also pointed out ways to produce quality films, further stating the importance of collaboration among members of the organization.
Ebigieson urged members to open YouTube channels, Facebook pages to upload their films instead of waiting for DSTV to buy their films, and to produce quality movies that could be sold to platforms like African Magic Showcase, and other DStv channels among others. She further suggested that Producers can come together collaborate and produce Cinema films, the need for collaboration is to avoid a Producer using his or her money to produce a film worth 20 Million, and then fail to make returns from the movie. ”Producing a Cinema Movie with all your Finance can make you broke as you wait for Cinema to accept the Movie, which they may reject if the standard is not met, let us avoid putting our eggs in one basket; she added”
The President, in an interactive session, urged the filmmakers in attendance to travel out of the country and collaborate with International filmmakers. This she said by adding that the Producers should create time to attend events or trainings slated for Producers to improve their skills and enable their collaboration with International communities. ”Being a Producer is not all there is to producing movies, you have to master the act and craft of producing movies, most Producers do not have time for meetings and trainings, all they they do all the time is to always rush to the movie set producing on daily basis without having a market to sell their films; she added”
The Ambassador laid emphasis on the fact that the Enugu State Chapter of Association of Movie Producers would wax stronger if Producers worked harder in producing quality movies and make it available to the people through mediums other than DSTV.
She also encouraged members to pay their monthly dues so as to run necessary costs and expenses, such as payment of office rent while ensuring that there is sufficient finance in the organization’s purse for any upcoming event or expenses.
Ebigieson also mentioned that to make the organization wax stronger, a code of conduct would have to be put in place to see that all movie producers belonged to one forum, and do things same way. ”If we have a conduct of making an Artists to sign a contract with us, believe me no Artists will walk away from your set leaving your job unattended”. She encouraged members to appreciate, love, support, and collaborate with each other to produce quality films. She talked on the importance of Movie Producers to come together and make an agreement regarding the payment of Artists, to avoid those artists charging 2 Million for a two days job.
” If we decide not to use stars/faces and DSTV rejects it, we can send the film to other platforms. DSTV is not supposed to tell producers the faces to use, that is handicapping us and leaving us to the mercies of the star artists, we need to look out for talents instead of faces to avoid unreasonable artist fees charges; she added.
” We are the star makers, we made those star artists that charges 1 Million and above, if their fees become unaffordable we can drop them and make another stars, that way we can have many talented stars whose fees are affordable. That way it will enable us have finance to take proper care of the crew members, our production and upcomers. Most times we pay too much attention to the Top Artists and Stars that we do not consider upcomers. We need to treat every artist equally and with same respect, everyone is important” she stated
Regarding International collaborations, she highlighted trainings in the Canada that is coming forth, while encouraging interested members to apply through a link that would be provided on the platform, and also to attend Nigeria Week in the UK in the month of July.
According to the National President, there will be 8 Days of Motivational talks, meetings, Networking, Festivals and Awards of TINFF + CBDFM SUMMIT in Canada this year, she urged the Producers to embrace this opportunity and attend.
