According to ThisDay News, Two Labour Party (LP) governorship aspirants for the upcoming Anambra State 2025 election, George Moghalu and John Nwosu, may meet to harmonize their interests before the party’s primary election.
Both aspirants hail from Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area, and are vying for the LP ticket for the November election. Moghalu, the immediate past Managing Director of the Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), revealed this during a New Year’s Day press conference at his residence.
Moghalu described Nwosu as both a brother and an in-law, emphasizing the need to avoid unnecessary competition and protect the interests of Nnewi. He expressed openness to discussions aimed at consolidating their efforts for the benefit of their town and the Labour Party.
“We are family and have a good relationship. Meeting to harmonize our interests is very possible and important to avoid wasting resources and time. It’s crucial to work together for Nnewi’s dream and the Labour Party’s success in the state. Politics is about human dynamics, and nothing is set in stone,” Moghalu said.
He added that their collaboration would strengthen the party’s chances of forming the next state government and indicated that such discussions could take place before the primary election.
While expressing confidence in his capabilities to lead Anambra and set the state on a better path, Moghalu reaffirmed his commitment to the governorship race, emphasizing his readiness to replace Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
