Anambra Community Attack: Leaders Condemn Violence, Call for Peace

The President-General of Nawfia community, Chief Daniel Okoye, and the traditional ruler, Igwe Daniel Obelle, have condemned the recent attack on Agu-Isioye community axis of Enugu-Ukwu and Ifite Nawfia, which resulted in the killings of at least four persons.

The leaders described the attack as an “abomination of the highest order” and emphasized that Nawfia town values peace and dialogue. They criticized a resident of Enugwu-Ukwu for making “hasty insinuations” that the perpetrators were from Nawfia, without waiting for a proper police investigation.

The leaders commiserated with the families of the victims and wished those injured a quick recovery. They called on law enforcement agents to arrest the perpetrators and their sponsors to deter future criminal activities.

The Nawfia community leaders emphasized that they believe in due process and are law-abiding citizens. They urged that such an ugly incident would not recur and prayed for the souls of the departed to rest in peace.

The incident occurred when some youths and indigenes of Agu-Isioye were invited to a land by yet-to-be-identified armed hoodlums, who opened fire on them, killing four persons instantly and injuring others.

The leaders’ statement aimed to clarify that Nawfia community was not involved in the attack and emphasized the need for peace and dialogue in resolving disputes.
