Lady Praises Angela Okorie for her “Act of Love and Selflessness Toward her
In a post on social media, a young lady by name Precious Ossai praises Nollywood actress, Angela Okorie for her kindness toward her which is uncommon among celebrities of her caliber.
Okorie, in this post, was said to have defended the young upcoming actress when a producer refused to pay her for writing a screenplay.
The post read, “The agreement was that I write a good role for myself which I did. I was supposed to play Amaka, a niece to Ikedi (Mike Ezuruonye) but after writing, editing and printing, The producer pushed me out of the hotel and gave the role to his then girlfriend.”
The actress Precious Ossai narrated that she was stranded and could not travel back to Lagos where she lived. However, she had gotten Director Ken Steve Anuka’s number from the producer’s phone smartly and put a call through to him.
“While we were talking, I begged him to lend me his phone so I can use it to copy out a relative’s number and he did. I quickly searched out the name of the director of the film as he had mentioned to me from the beginning. Director Ken Steve Anuka, one of the best men in Nollywood, God bless him for me. I quickly memorized the number and returned his phone. I called Oga Ken Steve and explained everything to him, he was livid and sent me money to pay for the hotel. He told me that Angela Okorie was one of the lead actors on that set but she’d be coming in on the 3rd day of the shoot. He encouraged me to speak with Angela and that she’d help me.” She said.
The young lady wrote that she had been surprised that by Angela’s show of kindness by giving her audience and hearing her out, Angela refused shoot until the lady was paid.
She called the director and told him she won’t shoot anything until the producer settles the upcoming actress who wrote the script. Oga Ken Steve, who was aware of the entire situation, simply relaxed until the producer arrived and asked why they weren’t filming.
Angela told him to settle the Actress if he wanted the work to continue, after ranting and bickering he called her for settlement.”
Meanwhile, according to her, Angela advised her not to take the role as it might endanger her.
“Angela called me to a corner and told me not to stay back and do that work because my life might be in danger.
She advocated for me to be paid for screen playing the job and be given my tfare to and from Lagos which the producer paid and I left.
I can never forget that act of love and selflessness. Super stars are hardly nice to upcomers but she was different. She has always had a strong voice.”
