Argentina Wins Record 16th Copa America Title

Argentina has successfully defended its Copa America title, defeating Colombia 1-0 in the final on Sunday night at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. The winning goal came in extra time, with substitute Lautaro Martinez scoring in the 112th minute.

Martinez, the tournament’s top scorer, ran onto a through ball from Giovani Lo Celso and lifted his effort over the advancing Colombia goalkeeper, Camilo Vargas. This victory marks a record 16th Copa America title for Argentina, with the team winning its third straight major title following the 2021 Copa America and 2022 World Cup.

Lionel Messi, Argentina’s talisman, was forced to leave the game in the 64th minute due to an apparent non-contact injury. Despite his absence, Argentina was able to secure the win and make history in the tournament.
