Protesters marching towards the Three-Arm Zone of the Federal Capital Territory were met with force as police fired tear gas at the crowd gathered in Eagle Square, Abuja, today.
According to eyewitnesses, at least one protester was injured in the chaos.
The protesters had initially gathered at the MKO Abiola Stadium before making their way to Eagle Square, where they were dispersed by police.
A video posted by Galaxy TV showed the chaotic scene as protesters were forced to flee.
The protests, which were also reported in Port Harcourt, Rivers, Lagos, Sokoto, and other states across Nigeria, were organized to draw attention to the country’s economic hardship.
Despite the police teargas, demonstrators remain determined to make their voices heard.
