Coalition Warns Against Fubara’s Impeachment, Urges Caution to Avoid Anarchy in Rivers State

A group of leaders, the Coalition of Rivers State Leaders of Thought, has appealed to the Martin Amaewhule-led House of Assembly to drop plans to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara, warning that such action could lead to anarchy in the state.

The coalition expressed concern that the recent actions of the 27 lawmakers loyal to Minister Nyesom Wike were capable of plunging the state into crisis. They urged the lawmakers to jettison the idea of impeachment, warning that the consequences of their threats would be dire.

The group also called on President Bola Tinubu to prevail on Wike, whom they alleged was contributing to the tension in the state. They urged Wike to rein in his supporters and asked the judiciary to apply wisdom in matters concerning Rivers State.

The coalition reiterated their support for the Fubara-led administration and urged the governor to remain focused on delivering good governance for Rivers people. They emphasized that the political crisis in the state had nose-dived to a critical level, requiring urgent attention to avoid an unimaginable crisis.
