A lot of people are coming out to argue about the cause of Junior Pope’s death. Some said he was murdered, others said he was drowned. There are some speculations making rounds in social media that Junior Pope was murdered, as someone that drowned can not be bleeding from the nose and mouth and cannot have a torn clothes, as we can see from the image, that Junior Popes clothe was shredded .
The painful exit of a Nollywood actor Junior Pope Odonwodo, popularly known as Jnr Pope, has left fans and colleagues in a state of shock and mourning. This is still unbelievable as people wished they can turn back the hands of time to reverse the situation.
Junior Pope was drowned alongside four crew members who were part of the production of the Film; The other side of Life, which was been produced by Adamma Luke. Junior Pope’s body was recovered alongside some crew members while the bodies of three other crew members were yet to be recovered as they were five in the boat which capsized after colliding with another boat around Anam the River Niger area in Anambra State.
According to Eboh, “The producer of the film, Adanma Luke was supposed to be in the boat. But, she forgot something and had to return back to the hotel to pick it up. That was how she missed the boat. She got to hear the news when she got to the River but couldn’t find her production team. When the accident happened, we were asked to perform some rituals by the riverside before we recovered Jnr Pope’s body alongside the other victim. They were already dead when they were bought out of the water.
According to Eboh’s account, while the victims were on board, TC kept standing and was pouring libation on the water, and at the same time ringing his bell. In the process, he blocked the view of the person steering the boat in such a way that he couldn’t see the incoming canoe, thereby leading to a collision.
Tochukwu Okafor popularly known as TC Virus was one of the Actors on that boat. The deceased on that boat both the crew and the actor are: Junior Pope Odonwodo, Abigail Fredrick, Joseph Anointing, Precious Oforum, and Friday Okoroafor.
The South East Film Crew Welfare (SFCW) shall hold a candle night for the deceased. The Enugu State candle night will take place at Okpara Square on the 17th April 2024 by 1:00pm.
The Akwa Ibom candle night will be hosted by Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria (CDGN) on Wednesday 17th April 2024, at Discovery park, Udo Umana by Uyo Township Stadium Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, by 5pm.
