The Enugu State governorship elections petitions tribunal delivered its judgment on Thursday, September 21, 2023, regarding the matter brought before it by Barr. Chijioke Jonathan Edeoga. This matter pertains to the results of the gubernatorial elections held on March 18, 2023, in the state, which favored Barr. Peter Mba of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement signed by Engr. George Ugwu, the spokesperson for the Edeoga/Nwokebia Campaign Organization, it was stated: “We wish to convey the acknowledgment by the Labour Party and its candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, of the judgment as delivered at the tribunal. We also wish to announce our preparedness to challenge the outcome of this judgment at the Court of Appeal and through all legal avenues available.
To this end, we urge our supporters across the state and in other parts of the country to remain calm, law-abiding, and to go about their businesses without fear or hindrance.
We maintain a firm belief in justice and will pursue all legal means to ensure that the hopes of the Enugu people, who turned out in large numbers to vote for Labour Party candidates on March 18, 2023, are realized.”
