The Edo State Joint Transition Committee, comprising representatives from the outgoing administration and governor-elect Monday Okpebholo’s team, met at the John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy in Benin to facilitate a smooth transition.
State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation Chris Nehikhare stated that the primary objective of the meeting was to ensure a seamless handover of government. He expressed optimism about the collaborative efforts of all members.
Chairman of the Joint Transition Committee and Secretary to the Edo State Government Joseph Eboigbe briefed the committee on the state government’s program, reaffirming the government’s commitment to a flawless transition.
Pius Odubu, Chairman of Okpebholo’s team and former deputy governor, expressed appreciation for the state government’s initiative towards a seamless transition. He urged the state government team to provide all necessary documents, both hardcopy and soft copies, to facilitate the incoming administration’s takeover.
Odubu cautioned against hiding data and available information, emphasizing the importance of transparency for the incoming government to be well-briefed.
The handover ceremony is scheduled for November 12 in Benin.
