Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South Senatorial District, has stated that the South East will appeal to the Federal Government for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
When asked about the possibility of Kanu’s release, Ubah expressed confidence that it would happen. He acknowledged that the government couldn’t make a unilateral decision due to ongoing legal proceedings but believed that collective efforts could influence the outcome.Ubah emphasized that Kanu’s continued detention contributes to insecurity in the South-East region.
He discussed various issues during the consultation, including infrastructure and the region’s stability. Senator Ubah’s move from the Young Progressives Party (YPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was motivated by the South East’s desire for peace and stability. He called on everyone who seeks peace in the region to support his efforts in bringing tranquility and encouraging people to return to the South East. The Supreme Court is set to deliver its judgment on December 15 regarding an appeal seeking to compel the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu.
