The Ekiti State Government has announced a free surgical mission for residents across the state. According to Commissioner for Health, Dr Oyebanji Filani, the initiative aims to improve access to healthcare for all residents, particularly those who are underserved and financially disadvantaged.
Enrollment for the program is currently ongoing at primary health care facilities in all wards across the state. Patients are required to provide their National Identification Number and a passport photograph during enrollment. The exercise will be conducted across various healthcare facilities in the state and will cater to a wide range of surgical needs, including Caesarian sections, hernia repairs, appendectomies, cataract surgeries, and more.
The key objectives of the Free Surgical Mission include enhancing healthcare access, providing free surgical services to those who cannot afford it, and improving health outcomes. The surgeries will be performed at selected hospitals equipped with necessary facilities and personnel to ensure safe and effective outcomes. Post-surgical follow-up and rehabilitation services will also be provided.
