According to Legit.Ng, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has announced that residents no longer observe the sit-at-home order previously enforced by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). He stated that the people of Enugu now carry out their daily activities without fear of harassment or attacks by enforcers of the order.
The governor made this remark on Saturday, January 4, 2025, during President Bola Tinubu’s one-day official visit to the state. Tinubu was in Enugu to commission several key projects executed by Mbah’s administration, including the GTC Smart Green School and other infrastructural developments.
Governor Mbah emphasized that the sit-at-home order, which began in 2021 to protest the detention of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, is no longer observed in Enugu. “Our people go to work every day of the week, and we no longer take orders from non-state actors,” he said.
President Tinubu applauded this update, expressing his approval during the briefing. Mbah also lauded Tinubu’s leadership and described him as a “true federalist” with bold initiatives that have supported infrastructural development in Enugu State.
After the visit, Tinubu returned to Lagos, leaving behind a message of collaboration and progress for the region.
