Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, has dismissed claims of discord between him and Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, regarding the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership in the state.
Reacting to a December 26 online publication titled “Crisis Imminent in Enugu State PDP: Party Chieftain Alerts Gov Mbah”, Onwuegbu clarified through his spokesperson, Orjiako Sam, that he enjoys a collaborative relationship with Governor Mbah and the PDP leadership.
The statement emphasized that Onwuegbu was abroad during the Congress that elected ward executives and has since maintained cordial relations with all party officials. He debunked allegations of requesting the removal or replacement of any ward executive, stressing that his visit to the PDP State Chairman was purely to offer congratulations.
Onwuegbu described the publication as defamatory, demanding a retraction within 48 hours while urging the public to disregard it as baseless. He reiterated his commitment to party unity and progress and denounced the article as a deliberate attempt to create disunity.
He highlighted his developmental contributions in his constituency and reaffirmed his harmonious relationship with Governor Mbah and the PDP. Onwuegbu expressed dismay at attempts to destabilize the party through false narratives.
