Seun Kuti, son of the legendary Afrobeats musician Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has made a shocking revelation about his father’s personal life.
In a recent podcast appearance, Seun disclosed that Fela had over 100 concubines, in addition to his 27 wives.
While many people are familiar with Fela’s polygamous lifestyle, Seun revealed that the extent of his father’s relationships was much more extensive than previously known. “People only know of Fela’s 27 wives, but they don’t know about the over 100 girlfriends who lived with us in the house,” Seun said on the ‘Bahd & Boujee’ Podcast.
This revelation sheds new light on Fela’s unconventional lifestyle and his efforts to challenge societal norms. As previously reported, Fela married 27 women in a single ceremony in 1978, a move seen as a bold statement against the media’s labeling of his female dancers and band members as “prostitutes”.
