Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has emphasized the importance of Africa-based solutions to address the continent’s challenges.
Speaking at the 3rd AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum in the Bahamas, Sanwo-Olu stressed that external support should only supplement local efforts, not replace them.
The governor shared success stories from Africa, including Lagos’ development model, which has transformed the state’s economy through homegrown visions and local effort.
He highlighted the need for self-confidence and belief in African ideas and approaches, noting that external help can only complement internal leadership and direction.
Sanwo-Olu cited Lagos’ economic achievements, including the establishment of the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Eko Atlantic City, and intracity rail infrastructure, as examples of successful partnerships and local initiatives.
He also emphasized the importance of leveraging the entrepreneurial spirit of young people.
On the sidelines of the forum, Sanwo-Olu connected with Caribbean leaders, exploring opportunities for collaboration and mutual growth.
This engagement aligns with his previous outreach to investors worldwide, inviting them to invest in Lagos’ infrastructure and promising attractive returns.
