Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed concerns about Nigeria’s current state, describing it as volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous.
He emphasized the need for moral, transformational, and servant leadership to address the country’s challenges. Obasanjo stressed that Nigeria’s resources alone cannot guarantee progress without effective leadership.
He also highlighted the importance of learning from history and preserving the nation’s cultural heritage. Additionally, he advised politicians to have a backup plan and not rely solely on politics for their livelihood.
Obasanjo made these remarks at the Africa Methodist Council Heads of Conference Summit and Women’s Movement Leadership Summit in Lagos, where he served as the Chairman of the public lecture. The lecture’s topic, presented by Bishop Ivan Abrahams, was “Leadership in a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous World.”
