Hotel Worker Drags Singer, May D Over N11,000 Debt
An employee of a hotel, identified as Blackgoddess, has taken legal action against Nigerian singer and former P-Square signee, Akinmayokun Awodumila, widely known as May D, for failing to settle a debt amounting to N11,000 after staying with his friends at the establishment.
Blackgoddess, who disclosed details of her interaction with the singer through her social media handle, shared screenshots of their WhatsApp conversation on Sunday, appealing for the outstanding payment.
The hotel staff member explained that the management had to deduct the owed amount from her salary as May D delayed clearing his dues.
In her statement, she recounted the events, stating, “After he and his friends enjoyed food and drinks on Friday, they proceeded to the club and did not return that night. I was apprehensive because I would have been responsible for the bill if he failed to settle it. However, since one of his friends remained at the hotel, I was somewhat assured that I would receive the payment.”
Continuing, she added, “The following day, Saturday, January 13th, 2024, our hotel policy mandates settling accounts before 10 am. I obtained his contact from his friend still at the hotel to request payment, but his response was disrespectful.”
Despite the challenging situation, Blackgoddess maintained composure, fearing potential repercussions, and ultimately covered the outstanding balance of N11,000 from her salary at month-end.
In response to the allegations raised by the hotel staff, May D addressed the matter on his social media platform, promising to settle the debt by the end of March.
He stated, “Please, leave me alone. I’m currently experiencing financial difficulties. She should provide her account details, and I will reimburse her when I receive my salary from my employer. It’s just 11,000 Naira.”
Furthermore, he urged his followers to divert their attention to streaming his latest music release, emphasizing that the revenue generated would aid in avoiding future financial constraints.
