Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has signed the N807 billion appropriation bill for the 2025 fiscal year into law, pledging its “full and faithful implementation.”
The budget, initially proposed at N756 billion, was reviewed and increased by the House of Assembly in alignment with the executive’s vision to provide essential services.
Speaking at the signing ceremony in Owerri on Tuesday, Governor Uzodimma expressed gratitude to the legislature for the swift passage of the bill. He emphasized that the budget, titled “Budget of Expanded Economic Opportunities,” is designed to drive economic transformation through improved infrastructure and industrialization.
The 2025 budget allocates 86.09% (approximately N694 billion) to capital expenditure, while 13.91% (around N112 billion) is reserved for recurrent expenditure. The Ministry of Works and Infrastructural Development received the largest allocation of N297 billion (42.8%), followed by the Ministry of Transport with N101 billion (14.5%). Other key allocations include N74 billion for Power and Electrification, N50 billion for Agriculture and Food Security, N49 billion for Education, and N31 billion for Health.
Governor Uzodimma reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating economic opportunities and positioning Imo State as a top destination for investors. “This budget aims to foster rapid economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development,” he said.
He called on stakeholders to support his administration’s vision and assured residents that the implementation of the budget would commence immediately.
