Katsina Governor Orders Suspension of Teacher Over Alleged Sexual Harassment
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has issued a directive to the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hadiza Yar’adua, to suspend teacher Lawal Ibrahim over allegations of sexual harassment involving a female student at Government Day Secondary School, Dantankari, in Dandume Local Government Area.
The governor’s decision, made on Friday, followed the reception of a report implicating Lawal, who is also the school’s principal, in alleged sexual harassment against a female student within the same educational institution.
In an official statement signed by Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua, the Director of Press for the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Faskari, Governor Radda mandated the State Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education to thoroughly investigate the allegations, take appropriate action, and subsequently report back to him.
Governor Radda went a step further, instructing the State Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Musa, to conduct an independent investigation into the matter. The directive also included probing the Dandume Divisional Police Officer (DPO) on allegations of gratification and compromise related to the incident, with a requirement to report the findings back to the governor.
The move underscores the state government’s commitment to addressing concerns of misconduct within the educational system and ensuring the safety and well-being of students.Credit : Channels TV
