The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office has taken swift action against environmental pollution by sealing off a petrol station at Fagba Bus Stop along Iju-Ishaga Road. The station, ENYO, was found to be indiscriminately discharging wastewater onto the public road, causing degradation of the recently rehabilitated road.
The state Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the action, stating that the petrol station had been in the habit of discharging wastewater from its car wash onto the road and surroundings. The agency emphasized that the state has zero tolerance for environmental pollution and degradation.
The sealing off of the petrol station was prompted by a public complaint made on social media, highlighting the need for prompt action to prevent further environmental damage and ensure public safety. The agency warned that all persons or businesses engaging in similar acts would face sanctions or prosecution.
