Lagos Tenant Hospitalized as Landlady Breaks into Apartment
In a distressing incident in the Tijani Bello area of Ojodu, Lagos State, Olanike, the wife of car dealer Ayodeji Soetan, finds herself hospitalized following an alleged attack by her landlady, Juliet Akano.
The unsettling episode unfolded around 11 am on Wednesday, January 24, leaving the Soetan family grappling with the aftermath.Soetan revealed that Akano, accompanied by a group of suspected thugs, forcefully entered the two-storey building where the Soetans reside.
The invaders, armed with a sledgehammer, proceeded to demolish doors and windows, eventually gaining access to Ayodeji Soetan’s apartment. The car dealer expressed his dismay over the incident, emphasizing the impact it had on his wife’s well-being.
Soetan narrated, “My wife lost her pregnancy two months ago, and she has been recovering from the loss, but the shock of the demolition was too much for her.
She developed high blood pressure and is currently in the hospital.”According to Soetan, the confrontation occurred without any prior notice from the landlady, who allegedly remained silent during the destructive act.
He added, “I have no issue with her other than the house rent I want to pay her. I have offered to pay the rent, due by May this year, but she has refused to collect it. She did not even give me an audience at all.
“Soetan also disputed Akano’s claim that the individuals responsible for the demolition were officials from the Lagos State Government. He stated, “Before this incident, she had brought some people to mark the house, claiming they were Lagos State Government officials.
She said the people who vandalized our property were government officials too. But when I made my findings, I found out that they were not from the state government.
“Despite attempts to reach Akano for comment, she dropped a call when contacted and had not responded to a text message at the time of this report. The Soetans, meanwhile, grapple with the repercussions of a disturbing violation of their home and an uncertain future with their landlady.Credit : Punch News
