Nigerian Representative Alex Ikwechegh has publicly apologized for physically assaulting a Bolt driver who delivered a package to his residence. In a statement, Ikwechegh acknowledged his behavior was unacceptable and fell short of the standards expected of a public official.
He expressed regret for the harm and embarrassment caused and confirmed cooperation with the Nigerian Police investigation. Ikwechegh also pledged to support accountability and uphold the law.
Additionally, he announced plans to seek professional counseling to address underlying issues and engage in community service promoting respect and empathy.
The incident, captured in a viral video, sparked widespread condemnation. Ikwechegh was questioned by police and criticized for involving the Inspector General of Police’s name.
