Lionel Messi has made history by leading Argentina to the Copa America 2024 final, surpassing Brazilian legends Cafu and Roberto Carlos’ record of reaching six international finals. This marks Messi’s seventh final appearance.
Additionally, Messi has broken Iran’s Ali Daei’s international goals record, becoming the second all-time top-scorer with 109 goals, trailing only behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s 130 goals. Messi had previously tied Daei’s record of 108 goals with two goals in a 4-1 win over Guatemala before the Copa America tournament.
Argentina defeated Canada 2-0 in the semi-final, with Messi scoring a goal and Julian Alvarez also finding the net. The team will now face either Uruguay or Colombia in the final at the Miami Gardens.
