Movement of Biafrans in Nigeria (MOBIN) expresses deep sorrow over the passing of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, who passed away on July 25, 2024. He held the position of president until his death and had entrusted MOBIN with the responsibility of aiding in the restoration of peace and honor to the Igbo people. Unfortunately, he did not live to witness this mandate being carried out.
”It is with great pain and sadness that we the members of MOBIN received the news of the departure of our leader and mentor, Chief Dr Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, from this wicked world.
Chief Iwuanyanwu had an unfinished work for the Igbo Nation. Many people, especially the youths, did not know him very well to understand the burden and the pains in his heart for the Igbo people and his love for the Igbo Nation. On Saturday 18 May 2024, he had a meeting with the leaders of MOBIN at Owerri to discuss the way forward for the Igbo Nation and in consequence thereof he gave his mandate to MOBIN to partner with Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the struggle for self-determination by way of restructuring of Nigeria to Regional Government. He accepted the Memorandum submitted to the National Assembly by MOBIN for devolution of power to the Regions. He mandated MOBIN to do everything necessary to restore the peace and dignity of Igbo Nation and bring the rebellious children back to the Elders of Igboland for the peace, love, unity, security and progress of Igboland.
The partnership meeting of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and MOBIN started the following week at the Ohanaeze Secretariat Enugu where the leaders discussed and strategized on the way forward. He always sent his Special Assistant Dr Pat Anyanwu to represent him at the meeting held fortnightly. Just as we were about to hit the street running with the strategic plans of action, Chief Iwuanyanwu was taken away from us by death. He left the work unfinished. This is a very painful loss. We are in deep sorrow for his sudden demise.
May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the LORD.”
Signed:
Barr Dr Emeka Emekesiri
Chairman of MOBIN
