The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued a stern warning to airlines operating in the country, threatening to take action against those that violate restricted airspaces. This comes after the Office of the National Security Adviser reported a sighting of an unknown aircraft flying over the presidential villa.
In a letter to airlines, the NCAA referenced Part 8.8.1.21 of Nig.CARs, which prohibits aircraft from operating in restricted areas without permission. The authority warned that violations would be met with sanctions, prosecution, or both.
The NCAA also cautioned that intruding aircraft risk facing dire consequences. To avoid this, the authority advised aircraft owners and operators to ensure their crew obtains thorough weather briefings before flights and adheres strictly to air traffic control instructions.
The warning comes as a reminder to airlines to respect restricted airspaces and prioritize safety and security in their operations. The NCAA’s stance aims to prevent potential threats to national security and ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft.
