NDLEA Busts Katsina Wedding Drug Party, Arrests Groom, 25 Others
In a surprising turn of events, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended 25 youths engaged in a pre-wedding drug abuse competition in Katsina State. The operation, conducted based on intelligence, disrupted the event in Shola Quarters, Katsina.
The suspects were caught indulging in various illicit substances, including a mixture of drugs in a plastic bucket.Although the groom, Musa Gwandi, was not present during the arrests, he was later apprehended on December 3rd.
Meanwhile, in Anambra state, NDLEA intercepted a truck with significant drug-related cargo, including codeine-based syrup, tramadol capsules, and pentazocine injection.
In Kaduna state, three separate arrests involved cannabis trafficking, with quantities ranging from 28.4 kilograms to 34 kilograms. Similar operations took place in Kogi, Borno, Ondo, and the FCT, resulting in the confiscation of various drugs and the arrest of individuals involved in trafficking.
At the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, NDLEA intercepted 12 consignments of cocaine belonging to a Drug Trafficking Organization. Augustine Emeka, a businessman, was arrested with 797 pellets of cocaine, weighing 17.6 kilograms. Emeka confessed that the consignments were intended for delivery to 12 different individuals in the country.
In another incident at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, a suspect named Onyejiuwa Ifeanyi was arrested after being on the run since September.
