According to ThisDay News, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has assured citizens that the pace of development witnessed in 2024 will continue unabated in 2025. He also called on Nigerians to foster love, empathy, and charity to drive national progress in the new year.
In his New Year message, the governor emphasized his commitment to inclusive development and economic growth, stating, “We cannot afford to temper your expectations with excuses or reduce our deliverables. The social and economic transformation of Enugu State will remain our priority.”
Governor Mbah highlighted key achievements from the previous year, including the completion of major capital projects such as Smart Green Schools, the International Conference Centre, Primary Healthcare Centres, and upgraded urban and rural road networks. These, he said, are just a glimpse of his administration’s broader vision for the state.
He announced that by September, all children aged 3–15 in Smart Schools across the state will have access to world-class free education, complemented by daily nutritious meals. This initiative aims to equip students with practical skills to prepare them for the evolving global workforce.
The governor also reaffirmed his goal to transform Enugu into a hub for business, investment, tourism, and living, with a target of growing the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion. “In 2025, we will expand development to the last mile, ensuring basic amenities are accessible to all,” he added.
Governor Mbah urged citizens to prioritize love and empathy, describing them as essential for nation-building. “Small acts of kindness can have a profound impact. Our development model is inclusive, ensuring economic growth does not compromise humanity,” he stated.
He concluded by thanking the people of Enugu for their support and wishing them a joyful and peaceful New Year celebration.
