The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting thunderstorms and rains across Nigeria from Wednesday to Friday.
In the northern region, thunderstorms are expected in the morning, affecting areas such as Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe, Katsina, Sokoto, and Kaduna. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are also anticipated in Kano, Borno, Katsina, Adamawa, Kaduna, Taraba, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Jigawa.
In the North Central region, thunderstorms are expected in the morning in the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, and Niger. Later in the day, thunderstorms are anticipated in the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Niger, and Kwara.
In the southern region, thunderstorms are expected in the morning in Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ogun, Ondo, Lagos, Edo, Delta, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom. Intermittent rains are also predicted in Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Anambra, Edo, Ekiti, Oyo, Rivers, Cross River, Delta, and Akwa Ibom.
NiMet advises residents to avoid flood-prone areas due to the high likelihood of urban flooding in major cities. Strong winds may precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur, and the public is advised to take adequate precautions and adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities.
