Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili has announced that she will not be competing in the 100m race at the ongoing Paris Olympics. In a series of tweets, Ofili revealed that the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC) failed to enter her for the event, despite her qualifying for it.
Ofili expressed her disappointment and frustration, stating that she had worked hard for four years to earn the opportunity to compete. She questioned the trustworthiness of the AFN and NOC, demanding accountability from those responsible for the administrative failure.
This is not the first time Ofili has faced such a situation. She revealed that a similar incident occurred at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where she was unable to compete due to the failure of the AFN, NADC, and NOC to release funds for athlete testing.
Ofili still holds out hope that she will be entered for the 200m event. Her tweets highlighted the struggles she has faced due to administrative failures, and she urged for change to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
