Ololade Ayelabola, a University of Lagos student, has achieved a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance walked by a model, covering an impressive 130.62km catwalk.
Ayelabola began her attempt on October 1 at the university’s indoor sports center, initially aiming for 120km. She surpassed her target and completed an additional 10km, making 2,058 laps within the sports center.
The model stated that her goal was to showcase Nigeria’s creativity and fashion industry to the world. “I’m not walking for myself alone. I am walking for many models who have been limited by stereotypes and standards set by rigid systems,” she said.
Ayelabola’s achievement surpasses the previous record held by Roberta Brown and Lorraine McCourt, who walked 114.4 km in Dublin, Ireland, in 1983. However, her record is subject to verification and confirmation by Guinness World Records.
