NLC suspends planned strikeThe planned nationwide strike in Nigeria, organized by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), has been put on hold.
This decision comes after successful negotiations between the Federal Government and the labor unions on Monday, resulting in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Key points of the MoU include a temporary salary increase of N35,000 for federal workers beginning in September, lasting until a new national minimum wage is officially determined. Additionally, there will be a six-month suspension of VAT on Diesel,
a commitment of N100 billion for high-capacity CNG buses, and various measures to address labor-related concerns. The strike has been suspended for 30 days to allow for the implementation of these agreements.
