The Nollywood industry gathered to bid farewell to the late Amaechi Muonagor, a veteran actor, who was laid to rest in his country home in Obosi, Anambra State. The funeral ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, and Dom Onyenji, the Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment.
Peter Obi, in his condolence speech, eulogized the late actor and urged the bereaved family to take heart. He prayed for the repose of Muonagor’s soul, acknowledging the significant impact he had on the industry. Dom Onyenji, representing the Anambra State government, lamented the loss of a creative personality and highlighted Muonagor’s contributions to mentoring stars in the industry.
Emeka Ejezie, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), sent a representative, Steve Eboh, to offer condolences and pray for the family’s strength to bear the loss. The state chairman of AGN, Mrs Chinyere Anyaegbunam, remembered Muonagor as a father figure in the industry, who mentored many and was dearly loved. The Nollywood family and friends gathered to celebrate the life of the legendary actor, who will be deeply missed.
