The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has urged the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) to incorporate skills acquisition and entrepreneurship programs into its curriculum.
Ahmed made this recommendation during the NDA’s 22nd Convocation Lecture, emphasizing the importance of practical skills for cadets and post-graduate students. He suggested utilizing the academy’s land for agricultural production to promote self-sufficiency.
The NYSC boss believes skills acquisition is crucial to national security, as it keeps individuals engaged and focused on positive contributions. He encouraged the NDA’s Post-Graduate School to introduce skill acquisition programs, enhancing students’ employability and self-reliance.
NDA Commandant, Maj.-Gen. John Ochai, appreciated Ahmed’s lecture, highlighting the need for individuals to acquire skills beyond university education.
