INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration in Ondo State, registering 20,000 fresh voters ahead of the November 16 governorship election.
Yakubu praised the impressive turnout, particularly among young people, indicating enthusiasm and likely high participation in the election.
He also confirmed that 17 political parties will participate in the poll, having submitted their candidates’ names.
Meanwhile, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, emphasized INEC’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve election processes, ensuring transparency and minimizing manual intervention.
Agboke also discussed the complexities of prosecuting electoral offenders, highlighting INEC’s statutory role in prosecution and the need for collaboration with other agencies.
