Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved a hazard allowance for personnel of the State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA), effective August 1, 2024. The governor made this announcement during the passing-out parade of 500 newly recruited OYRTMA officers and the inauguration of its marshals.
Makinde acknowledged the hazards faced by traffic officers and emphasized his administration’s commitment to prioritizing their welfare. He also inaugurated 47 new marshals, including the Head of Service, Olubunmi Oni, and two permanent secretaries.
The governor charged the new officers to work effectively and with absolute commitment, emphasizing the importance of enforcing traffic laws and sensitizing the public. He thanked the Nigerian Army for collaborating in training the new personnel.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including former deputy governors, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, the Chief Judge, and service commanders. The OYRTMA Chairman, Maj Adekoya Adesagba (retd), appreciated the governor’s support and highlighted the rigorous recruitment process.
