The palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has disowned a man who claimed to be the monarch’s son in a viral video. The palace described the man’s claim as an act of impersonation and has reported the matter to security agencies for further action.
According to a statement by the monarch’s spokesperson, Moses Olafare, the Ooni of Ife knows and acknowledges all his children and takes full responsibility for them.
The palace listed all the children of the traditional ruler and their respective locations, stating that the eldest child is Princess Adeola Ogunwusi, followed by Princess Adewamiwa Ogunwusi, Prince Tadenikawo Ogunwusi, and the newborn twins, Prince Adebisi Kehinde and Princess Taiwo Adeayo.
The palace condemned the impersonation attempt, stating that it is sacrilegious and criminal. It urged law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrator to justice.
The palace also called on anyone with useful information about the impersonator to come forward and asked the impersonator to refrain from engaging in deceptive practices.
The House of Oduduwa remains committed to preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba people and will not tolerate any attempt to undermine or tarnish its legacy through fraudulent means.
