Nigerian filmmaker Patrick Doyle has made a bold statement, claiming that the entertainment industry is under Satan’s control. His comment comes on the heels of Tems’ controversial BET award win in the gospel category, despite being a secular musician.
Doyle expressed sympathy for mainstream gospel artists who feel betrayed by Tems’ win, but also cautioned them against seeking validation from the entertainment industry. He believes that committed Christians should not rely on institutions that are “in the grip of Satan” for recognition.
In a Facebook post, Doyle wrote, “I feel the pain of mainstream gospel artists who feel slighted that an evidently secular musician, Tems, was awarded for best gospel song.” He continued, “It’s time for committed Christians to stop seeking validation from fickle institutions like the entertainment industry mafia, which is in the grip of Satan.”
