Sad as a University loses it’s Professor

Notice: Pan-Atlantic University’s School of Media and Communications

We announced the passing of Professor Emevwo Anselm Biakolo, the first dean of Pan-Atlantic University’s School of Media and Communication, with great sadness. On February 8, 2024, when he was asleep, Professor Biakolo passed away.

Renowned public intellectual Prof. Biakolo studied poetry and the classics. In his academic career, he focused on media relations/management, educational management, family advocacy, professional ethics, storytelling, teaching, and communication.

He has given lectures at the Universities of Botswana and Ibadan in the past. He wrote columns for The Guardian Newspaper from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s and served as a member of its editorial board once. In addition to being a superb writer, Prof. Biakolo was a marriage counsellor. He described himself as “passionate about human development: the wellbeing and growth of individuals, couples, families and of course society as a whole.” He published two books on the topic, The Meaning of Marriage (2010) and Witness Conversations (2022), and was an outspoken supporter of the institution of marriage and the family. The National Family Counselling and Educational Network was also founded by him.

Being a devout Christian, he saw his faith as the most significant influence in his life. The most significant aspect of his everyday existence was prayer.

Throughout his career as a speaker, author, mentor, and therapist, Prof. Biakolo has significantly improved the lives of many individuals. We shall sincerely miss him.

Please remember his family and loved ones in your prayers as we pray for the repose of his soul. RIP to him.
