A 45-member committee to revise the 1999 constitution has been announced by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The committee, which includes six legislators from each of the six geopolitical zones as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, would be chaired by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin.
Laws pertaining to artificial intelligence and state police are just two of the areas that will be reviewed. The committee will convene on Tuesday of the following week.
As part of the process to alter the constitution, the Senate President also ordered that all State House of Assemblies speakers be invited to the National Assembly for engagement.
