A Federal High Court in Abuja has remanded social media influencer and critic, Martins Vincent Otse, also known as Verydarkman, in police custody. He was arraigned on five counts of cyberstalking and his lawyer applied for bail, but the prosecution requested more time to respond. The court adjourned the bail hearing to May 29.
Initially, the prosecution sought to have Otse remanded in prison custody, but his lawyers successfully applied for him to be kept in police custody instead. He was taken to the National Cybercrime Centre.
This is not Otse’s first run-in with the law, as he was previously remanded in March 2024 for the same offense. The 27-year-old has been at the center of controversy since January this year, known for his provocative online presence.
