The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, marked the arrival of the first baby of 2025 during her visit to the General Hospital, Nnobi, in Idemili South Local Government Area.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the first baby, a boy weighing 2.4kg, was born to Mrs. Elizabeth Nwachukwu from Enugu State through normal delivery at 12:18 a.m. Dr. Soludo presented gift items to the newborn and other families during her annual goodwill visit.
She later visited the General Hospital in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area, where Mrs. Chinaza Mmuoghalum gave birth to a baby girl weighing 4kg at 7:16 a.m.
As the founder of the Healthy Living Initiative, Dr. Mrs Soludo emphasized the significance of New Year births, describing them as a source of joy and fortune for families and society. She commended the dedication of healthcare workers and encouraged mothers to embrace healthy lifestyles and six months of exclusive breastfeeding, citing its health benefits and cost-effectiveness.
Dr. Mrs Soludo also praised the state government’s efforts to improve maternal and child healthcare, enhance facilities, and ensure affordability and accessibility of services.
