Germany’s elimination from Euro 2024 may have marked the end of Thomas Muller’s international career. Following Germany’s 2-1 quarter-final loss to Spain, Muller suggested that he may have played his last game for the national team.
Spain’s Dani Olmo opened the scoring in the 51st minute, but Florian Wirtz equalized for Germany in the 89th minute. Mikel Merino then scored the winning goal in the 119th minute, securing Spain’s spot in the semi-finals.
In a post-game interview with Sky Sport, Muller indicated that his international retirement may be imminent, saying, “It’s very likely that this was my last game with Germany, yes.” Muller made his senior debut for Germany in 2010 and has since been a key player for the team.
